At BBC our mission is to make mature disciples of Jesus in ever-increasing number worldwide. We have a vision to be a fruitful church and this includes sending out gospel workers - men and women trained to continue the disciple-making mission of Jesus anywhere in the world.
That’s why we invite men and women into a two year, full-time apprenticeship called the Ministry Training Strategy (MTS) to get hands-on ministry experience under the training and guidance of our staff team.
A Ministry Apprenticeship is a great first step, usually pre theological education, for anyone considering vocational minsitry.
Meet our previous Ministry Apprentice
In 2022/2023 Mark Colyer completed his journey as our first MTS apprentice, getting hands-on ministry experience under the training and guidance of our Associate Pastor Simon Holmes as his MTS Trainer. Since completing the program, Mark has moved to Sydney where he is currently studying at SMBC (Sydney Missionary & Bible College) in order to pursue a future of full time Gospel Ministry.
“Jesus’ message of grace is to be shared. My heart is to see people’s lives change by introducing them to their Creator who delights to show mercy.”
Meet our Trainer
Simon Holmes (BTh, GradDipEdStuds) completed his own MTS Ministry Apprenticeship (2010-2011) in a local church in Sydney and then went on to study at SMBC (Sydney Missionary & Bible College). Simon has served in both school and church-based ministry and has been Associate Pastor with us since 2018. Simon is passionate about training and equipping every disciple of Jesus to make more mature disciples of Jesus.
“It's such a joy to see God's transformative work in an Apprentice as they are stretched and supported through a wide variety of ministry experiences and training. Being an MTS Trainer is a great privilege - we work hard but it's usually a lot of fun too.”
