We need to pray because we are dependent on God to grow his kingdom. Words alone will not change lives unless God works by his Spirit to apply them to the hearts and minds of those that hear the gospel. Prayer is easy to let slip from our agenda, as individuals and a church, because it rarely seems urgent. To help us pray corporately more for the growth of God’s kingdom through our lives, ministries and those of others there are three initiatives below.

The Prayer Network is a way for us to pray for each other, particularly as needs arise.
Mel Jarman is our Prayer Network coordinator. So if you’d like to pass on a prayer request or praise point then please give her a call.
If as part of the church you’d like to receive prayer requests by email, SMS, or Facebook or phone please phone to office or email us and nominate your preferred media.

Sunday Pre-Service Prayer
Before each service there will be a half hour of prayer. We will meet in the room two doors the to the left of the auditorium entrance (the Board Room we sometimes call it). The prayer time will start at 8:50am and finish at 9:20am, so we can greet people and make them feel welcome as they arrive for our 9:30 start.
If you can’t make the whole half hour that’s OK just come for part of it. In the past it has usually just been the pastors, elders and the service leaders praying. But we want to invite anyone who can to come and pray with us during that time. The service leaders will normally just join us for the last 10-15min.
Monthly Prayer Meetings
On fourth Monday of each month will there will be a concentrated time of prayer in a home. We’ll announce the location month by month. This month location TBA. We’ll start and 8:00pm and finish by 9:30pm.
Quarterly Prayer Meetings
Part of our strategic plan is to have a prayer focus once a quarter. We’ll begin with hearty breakfast (or light one if you prefer) at the Baptist Church Community Centre at 8:00am and then pray from 9:00am-12:00pm. If you can make for part or all of that time please make it a priority.
Prayer Room
After the service on a Sunday do you ever feel like you need to pray? You might have come to church with a struggle. The sermon may have challenged or convicted you or even made you want to thank God. Perhaps you would like someone to pray with, perhaps you’d like to do it by yourself. Maybe you would like to volunteer to pray with people after the service.
We’re going to be setting up the room to the left of the stage as an after service prayer room. If you’d like to volunteer to pray with people please let Damien know. Couples would be ideal to cater for both sexes. It would mean sitting in there for 5 minutes after the service to see if anyone comes who would like prayer. The more volunteers we have the less often each person would need to be on.
Prayer Notes Available
There are prayer notes available from the reception counter for the various ministries of the church and for individuals. Please pick up a copy if you would like to pray more specifically for these or email Kathy at
